If you read Spinal Trap then you know that I am a huge fan of acupuncture which has its foundation built upon impacting the energy meridians to change and/or unblock the flow of energy.
That's a really elementary way to put it, but don't get lost on this point. You get on airplanes without knowing how they work, right? Ditto pain relief that works on your energy meridians, don't get hung up on the how, just the results! :)
My right shoulder has a rotator cuff tear, arthritis and bursitis. In 2015 I began getting a band of nerve damage pain about the width of a blood pressure cuff, around my upper right arm.
The pain and numbness started out with being exacerbated by activity but eventually got so bad that if I rolled on my rights side, severe tingling and numbness to the tips of my fingers as well as deep pain in my shoulder, would wake me and it got to the point where the pain was severe upon waking, w/o (without) movement.
I researched my preferred natural methods and found that if I increased my Alpha Lipoic Acid to 300mg BID (twice a day) it was touted as helpful to neuropathy; I also read that it is actually written in Germany as a prescription for nerve pain.
Thus, I bought Puritan's Pride 300mg supplement and it took two full weeks but once I faithfully took it twice daily, (I take it both on an empty stomach and with food), I had a reduction in this gnawing nerve pain that had become relentless.
If you have never endured severe nerve pain, think of how uncomfortable it is when you hit your funny bone and try to imagine that x 1 million. You can't, but that's close.
Eventually I had a pain procedure which helped a lot but after a couple of low pain months in this area, it began creeping up again. A friend of mine had been given a sample of Zuna Disrupt Pain Relief Discs and he gave them to me to try.
Unfortunately, he didn't remember to not keep them within 2” of his body and he put them in his shirt pocket. It completely negated their power to the point that the hologram had disappeared entirely; not having tried them before, I didn't know that there was supposed to be one.
Thus, I tried them and was unimpressed. I spoke with local Austin area Zuna brand rep Tom Crum about the experience and he pointed out that error and the possibility that letting them be near cell phones, may also contribute to the loss of efficacy.
Per Zuna Customer Service Manager Noah Epps, that has not been proven to be the case but he acknowledges that not keeping them near phones is not a bad idea if that potential does exist.
Since electronics can demagnetize hotel room keys, I say that it just makes sense to err on the side of safe rather than sorry.
Tom made the common sense suggestion to not put any body lotion on the area in which a Zuna disc would be applied. He also said that I could put a piece of tape over it before I showered to protect the disc, but I chose to not do so to see how strong they really are. I am pleased to say that 3 of the 4 stayed on for 5 days worth of showers without issues.
The one that fell off on its own was understandable because it was on my back R leg so every time you go to the bathroom and lower your pants, they are pulling at it. Thus it made sense and in the future I would recommend sticking a waterproof band-aid over any discs on a "high traffic" area.
I found it on the floor but given that it could have just as easily fallen off in the shower, I would also advise everyone to have one of those rubber drain catchers that goes over your tub or shower drain, just in case a disc does fall off while you are in the shower so that it doesn’t wash down the drain and cause any issues.
Again, err on the side of safe not sorry. Can you tell that I am a big fan of Benjamin Franklin’s “A pound of prevention is worth is an ounce of cure” wisdom?
Tom was very fair about setting reasonable expectations. He said that some people experience immediate relief, others enjoy it in 1-2 days, and others still, may take two weeks to get noticeable relief.
I nodded my head knowingly because I found that my relief with acupuncture was like that. The relief was often immediate but if I was severely flared, it could take a day or two for the pain to calm down and stay down.
I ordered a set from Tom and as soon as I opened the package and saw the holographs on these discs, (see picture) I expected to have a much more successful result because the samples that had been allowed to be in a shirt pocket and near cell phones, had no holograph on them, which indeed confirmed why they yielded no benefits.
The little V shape cut out serves no purpose
as far as placement on your body is concerned;
per Tom, it is there to help make removing them
easier, from the film on which they arrive.
I am pleased to say that I have used these discs with success, and rather quickly, on my lower back, R leg sciatica pain and my R shoulder arm nerve damage pain. I put two on my lower back and when I awoke the next day, I wasn't nearly as stiff as I usually am. That was a nice break! (I'm only 48 years old but due to my extensive spinal damage and severe arthritis, when I first get out of bed, I have the speed and gait of a 98 year old...)
The one I put on my back R leg decreased the sciatica pain as did the one on my R arm for that nerve pain.
It was $50 for 10 discs. When you consider the cost of one acupuncture session, (prices vary but $50 is low) this is definitely an investment worth trying if you too live with chronic pain.
As a person who has lived with the numerous diagnoses that you will find on Spinal Trap's home page, for over 10 years now, I have always believed in trying every single available option at my disposal because I know that not everyone enjoys the same relief from the same efforts, but you can't know what will give you relief if you don't try!
Now mind you, these Zuna discs did not replace my others efforts. Every day I self-manage my numerous pain challenges with prayer, herbs, music meditation, and when these efforts are not enough, I add on any and/or many of the following: ice packs, hot showers, epsom salt soaks, a moist heating pad, my TENS unit, Tiger Balm, physical therapy exercises, my lumbar brace. I now have Zuna discs to add to my natural efforts.
ONLY after I exhaust every natural effort in my arsenal, do I then, if necessary, begin to take my Rx's. Even then, I start out with just my anti-inflammatory, and if in one hour I have no relief or not enough, then I add on in ½ pill increments from there, my muscle relaxer and/or pain pill, depending on the pain source.
Meaning that, you should not take every type of pill that you have for pain, if only one type of pain is active and its specific prescription can address it successfully.
For instance, I get terrible muscle pain in my R shoulder rhomboids that feel like someone is sticking a hot poker deep into me by my shoulder blade. Instead of taking a pain pill, I take ½ Skelaxin 800mg because it is a muscle relaxer and our rhomboids are muscles.
Successful pain management is about knowing
your pains and their origins and about what
each of your prescriptions are for!
Please educate yourself about your diagnoses and Rx’s so that you can prevent further future health issues
by not popping every pill you have, every time you hurt!
For the record, I haven't done my review about it yet but I spent $50 on magnets in 2014 (at the behest of a doctor), that were to work on the exact same premise as these discs; and that effort, (for me), turned out to be a huge waste of $50.
So again, not everyone enjoys the same relief from the same efforts but when it comes to feeling your best, you can't afford to not try everything natural! I am pleased that the $50 spent on Zuna discs was not a waste of money!
If you order them and they don't work for you, you don't have to be out the money, just sell them to someone else. I did that once with a pillow I bought. I spent $110 on a pillow at Mattress Firm that the guy swore would be my best ever, it wasn’t.
The majority of my damage is in my neck, so this purchase usually ends in failure for me because I have very specific pillow needs. You can't return pillows and that was a lot of money to risk. Fortunately, after just one or two nights of using it and not liking it, I had a kind friend buy it from me.
With 1 in 4 suffering serious back pain in this country, I am confident you can find someone to buy them from you even if you have to sell them one at time for $5 each to different people.
Just make sure that you follow the tips in this article
to give them a fair chance.

Please note that pain is personal in that two people can have the exact same damage and yet, not get the same relief or results from the same efforts.
My opinions in these reviews are just that, opinions based upon my actual results or lack thereof.
My opinions are always fair, honest and accurate; points which you should be able to ascertain based upon the reviews themselves.
When it comes to pain management, whether it be western medicine, alternative medicine or self-help healing modalities, it is very important that you do what your God given instincts guide you to do.
Never let anyone else talk you into or out of trying anything reasonable in the name of pain relief so that you may live your best life!
